Circus! Cinema! Music! Playtime! Months of amazing cultural activities have been planned for the borough in the coming months, starting with The Revel Puck Circus who have put up their big top in Leyton Jubilee Park for 13 performances of The Wing Scuffle Spectacular (29 July – 8 August). The Revel Pucks formed for the 2019 Borough of Culture celebrations where they wowed audiences with The Big Bagaga Show. Their latest production will be the only contemporary circus show in the UK this year to feature large-scale circus disciplines such as teeterboard, cloud swing and tightwire.
Following its huge success last year, Cycle-In Cinema (19-22 August) is back in Pimp Hall Park in Chingford with a fantastic programme of family favourites and engaging contemporary and retro films presented by Stow Film Lounge. And Leytonstone Loves Film will also return for four days showcasing the work of local filmmakers and organisations through screenings, talks and workshops up and down Leytonstone High Road. (15-19 September).
It’s time to book your tickets for Dialled In, a brand new festival celebrating the best of the new South Asian underground, that is coming to Uplands Business Park on Saturday 11 September. Featuring the work of ethnically South Asian artists, Dialled In aims to include a broad range of creatives, with the focal point of the programme being a one-off 1000-person day and night celebration. Alongside the party, the festival will include a mentorship programme, a documentary and roundtable discussions.
And there are smaller projects too, helped by our Make It Happen grants, from a Fungi Fortnight celebrating all things mushroom to Live and Local events at Walthamstow Trades Hall and textile workshops at the capital’s first Indigo Garden. What are you waiting for?
